As of November 2025, Spotify has implemented stricter metadata rules. To avoid rejection, you must now use Full Legal Names for all Composer and Lyricist credits.
What has changed?
Spotify no longer accepts stage names, initials, or partial names in the songwriting fields. This update ensures that songwriters and producers are correctly linked to Spotify's "Song Credits" and "Songwriter Pages" features.
How to format your credits correctly ?
When entering data for Composer or Lyricist:
✅ DO: Use the full first and last name (e.g., John Smith, Abel Tesfaye).
❌ DON'T: Use stage names (e.g., The Weeknd, Jay-Z).
❌ DON'T: Use initials (e.g., J. Smith).
❌ DON'T: Use band names (e.g., The Beatles).
Note: You can still use your Stage Name in the "Artist" or "Featured Artist" fields. This rule only applies to the Composer and Lyricist fields.
